Energy Production from Waste System

Renewable Energy Solutions

In our rapidly developing world, one of the exponentially growing problems is the energy problem; unfortunately, our world cannot provide this energy with infinite resources. Alongside this energy need, we produce millions of tons of waste every day to maintain our vital continuity. Based on data from 2023, an average of 1.06 kg of waste is produced per person daily in Turkey. As CDG Engineering, we are converting all our waste, including "treatment sludges", into electricity and steam energy by recovering them to ensure the harmless disposal of waste and to meet part of our energy needs.

What is Treatment Sludge? What is Waste?

In wastewater treatment processes, the fluid-like waste that emerges from the transfer of decomposed substances into the microorganisms at the end of biological treatment is referred to as "treatment sludge". Treatment sludge is a product of wastewater treatment, and as the amount of sludge accumulates daily, the area required for sludge storage also increases, making sludge disposal a more vital necessity.
All pathogenic organisms, pollutants found in wastewater, and the chemicals used in processes to ensure that the waters in wastewater treatment facilities meet discharge limits are transformed into sludge. For this reason, treatment sludges contain harmful substances. These sludges, which pose significant risks to human health and the environment, cannot be evaluated for any process; however, they have a good calorific value. Therefore, these treatment sludges can be disposed of in suitable thermal processes and recovered as energy for the economy.
